FETALtrol
FETALtrol is an assayed, stabilized 3-level HbF control set designed to validate and monitor the quality of procedures for the detection of Foetal Maternal Haemorrhage (FMH). FETALtrol is CE Marked and FDA approved and is compatible as a control for both manual (Kleihauer Betke Method) and flow cytometric methods quantitation of HbF levels.
QuikQuant
FMH QuikQuant ™ is a flow cytometric method CE approved for FMH detection and quantitation. The assay uses a reagent containing a monoclonal antibody to Hemoglobin F and Propidium Iodide as a specific marker of nucleated cells. The method is a no-wash technique requiring about 30 minutes to complete. With less than 10 minutes of technologist time needed, it is more efficient to use than the KB assay, as well as more sensitive and precise.
Leuko64
Leuko64 is used to measure Neutrophil CD64 levels. Neutrophilic granulocytes express Fcγ receptor (FcγR) cluster of differentiation 64 (CD64) antigen only when they are activated. Neutrophil CD64, demonstrated using flow cytometry, can be used as a diagnostic marker of infection and sepsis. Neutrophil CD64 is superior to C-reactive protein and hematological determinations for detecting systemic infection or sepsis, since it combines high sensitivity (90% or more) with high specificity (90%–100%) in both adults and children. In addition, the test performs well in distinguishing infection from flares in autoimmune inflammatory diseases and has somewhat more limited utility for differentiating bacterial from viral infection.
Macro 163
CD163 is a membrane protein and member of the group B Scavenger Receptor Cysteine-rich super family specifically expressed on peripheral blood monocytes and macrophages. A particularly high expression is seen in macrophages of the ‘alternative activation’ phenotype playing a major role in dampening the inflammatory response and in scavenging components of damaged cells. Importantly, the extracellular part of CD163 is cleaved from the cell-membrane by proteolytic activity upon toll-like receptor activation. This shed CD163 molecule (soluble CD163, sCD163) is detectable in body fluid compartments and is regarded to reflect activation and proliferation of macrophages in inflammatory conditions. Measurement of sCD163 may be a valuable marker in diseases with macrophage and/or monocyte involvement, such as macrophage activation syndromes (e.g. hemophagocytic syndrome), infections, liver disease, auto-immune disease, atherosclerosis and cancer. sTREM-1
Human Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid Cells-1 (TREM-1) is expressed on the surface of granulocytes and peripheral monocytes and acts as an amplifier of inflammatory responses. Triggering of the receptor will result in the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines and the up-regulation of surface activation markers. During sepsis there is a significant increase in the release of soluble TREM-1. sTREM-1 level is a valuable early indicator for infection and sepsis. Click here for more.
